We all know Trump lies bigly. But this might be the biggest lie of all…lately.

He claimed

Donald Trump claimed Wednesday that gasoline prices are much higher than they truly are. (Watch the video below.)

It was a casual lie presented as a hard fact that didn’t get much play during his speech at an Iowa rally.

The former president has misrepresented gas prices before to drag President Joe Biden, but Trump’s latest fuel fib merited attention for its mammoth exaggeration.

“Gasoline prices are now 5, 6, 7 and even 8 dollars a gallon,” the former president said. “By contrast, under the Trump leadership, my leadership, inflation was nonexistent, and we had gasoline down to $1.87 a gallon.”

The highest gas prices can be found in Hawaii. And it’s $4.70/gallon. That’s nowhere near $8. The average gas price nationally is $3.10.

Trump even lied about how much gas cost when he left office. He claimed that it was $1.86. It was actually

The national average price of a gallon of gasoline for the week of Jan. 18, 2021, was $2.38, or about 28% higher than what Trump said it was.
